The goal of the Community Cam program is to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between the Takoma Park Police Department and the communities we serve. Accordingly, all InSight registrants agree to the following terms and conditions:
Any footage containing or related to criminal activity may be collected by the Takoma Park Police Department for use as evidence during any stage of a criminal proceeding.
Relevant information is reserved for official use by the Takoma Park Police Department and will not be released to any member of the general public or press.
If necessary, the Takoma Park Police Department will contact you directly, using the information provided on this site, to request the appropriate video surveillance footage.
Under no circumstances shall registrants construe that they are acting as an agent and/or employee of the City of Takoma Park and/or the Takoma Park Police Department through the Community Cam program.
Under no circumstances shall the Takoma Park Police Department utilize any information obtained to view footage/feeds directly from cameras owned by registrants unless express permission and rights are given during the registration process. In the rare event that a direct footage or feed is necessary the owner of the system will be notified. The viewing of footage/feeds directly from a camera system will only be utilized in an emergency or exigent circumstances and with prior approval during the registration process by the registrant.
